Place names are stored in the official language of the country, as the national sources publish them. The Spain file is in Spanish, the German file in German, the Italian file in Italian.
The column headers are in English, and the Country column gives the country name in English.
Bilingual regions
Each street has a single Street column with one name. In officially bilingual areas we carry the name as the source publishes it, and not both versions. In the province of Bolzano, for example, names are mostly Italian with some German and Ladin ones, but there is no separate column with the German name.
If your project requires both official names, or a transliteration into the Latin alphabet, ask us: a custom extraction can often be produced. See the article about custom datasets.
Character encoding
The files are UTF-8, so accents and non Latin alphabets are preserved. If the accents look wrong in Excel, see the article about opening the CSV in Excel.
